Getting ready for Studio Tour

Today, I think I finished all of my work. Now I'm cleaning my studio preparing for this weekends Studio Tour. I put a colored glaze inside my porcelain cups, which was an ordeal. Then I started to clean the studio. I have so much stuff, it sucks. Trying to find places to put everything, and wipping down tables. I got two of my tables cleaned off and wipped down. Now all I need to do is clean off my big round table and clean out my chair, but I'll do that tomarrow. A cool thing happened today on Myspace and the internet, my profile is now available to the public, how cool is that?

NEW WORK

Today I opened the kiln, I had fired it last night, inside was a whole shit load of new work. plates, tiles, dolls, and magnets. When I opened the kiln, I was super excited. When I was firing last night, I was working in the studio, cleaning and putting things away, at around 9:35 pm last night, the kiln shut off, I was so happy and joyful. It took televe hours for it to cool. I pulled beautiful things out, and it turns out that I'm going to have to refire most of it, because I didn't apply much glaze. This really doesn't bother me too much, I'm going to be doing another bisque, so I can just fire all my work together. I'm going to be posting pictures of my new work on Myspace soon.

Another thing I'm exceited about is Warped Tour. I'm taking my boyfriend and his brother. I can't wait to start sculpting and creating new works.

Just finished tons of work

In the recent weeks I've been working my ass off to get ready for a two day public studio tour, and today I finished! Thank God! I have my kiln loaded and am ready to fire in the morning. The kiln is full, and I am excited to see what will come out, I loaded it from the bottom and went all the way to the top, so i can't wait to get it fired and see the end results. I am also trying to get myself into a habit of sculpting, but am not sure about how to do it right. I'm looking at other artists trying to pull apart their techniques and see what I can use. I am also trying to put together a cohesive body of sculpture work that I can work on when I have the time to do so. I am wanting to do a whole series of medium sized heads, maybe with small bodies attached to them, or do a whole series of dolls that haved been dipped in slip, and then glazed. In the coming months I'm going to be working on a large head with shoulders and arms holding small bowls, which have eggs inside them. I hope it works and turns out the way I want it to. My fingers are crossed. I'm not sure how I'm going to go about building it but, I'm sure I will figure out a way. The head and arms are going to be detachable as are the small bowls, that, are going to be pinch pots. I'm very exceited about attempting this peice.
